What's New (6/30/14)

Holy Negligence, Batman!
Sorry for this past period of abandonment.  Lots of busy things happening lately.  The Gamber Center show is still going on, and I thank everyone for all the positive feedback and messages that I've received!  It has just a few weeks left to go, so if you have not been over to see it, please do so!!  You really should not miss it, and I hope you'll take the time to check it out.  It is up through July 17th.  In other news:

  • I've lately been working on new things, which will hopefully make for some nice show pieces in the coming year.  Those new pieces are pictured below.
  • My next show is Summit Art's annual summer exhibition at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg.  It runs from July 12 - August 8 at the UCM gallery.  I will have 3 paintings showing, which includes one new piece that I haven't shown yet.  More info to come on that very soon.
  • After Warrensburg, I am planning on being at the Raytown Artists Association Invitational show, which is the weekend of August 22-23rd at St. Paul's Church of the Nazarene in Kansas City.  Still have yet to register for that show, but I'll be doing so very soon, and will have more info on that soon as well.
  • I just got back from a mission trip to Colorado with my church's youth group, and it was great!  Lots of work with homeless and underprivileged children and adults.  It was a great experience, and I was very blessed to have spent it with my little brothers and sisters in Christ from church.  I brought my sketchbook with me, and I had it on me almost the entire time.  So I have some sketches to share with you all as well.  Hopefully some of them may become paintings later on.
  • I'm planning on returning with more painting classes pretty soon.  My hope is to start back up in mid-August.  We're going to be focusing more this time on oil painting in general, as opposed to making the focus exclusively on portrait painting.  I like having beginners in the class, and portraiture is a pretty demanding subject, especially for those that have never used oils before.  So we're going to take it a step at a time, and work with simpler subjects at first (still life objects), just so we can familiarize ourselves with the medium of oil paint, and tips on drawing with paint.  Then later on in the class, we'll touch on portrait painting aspects.  The class will be on Tuesday nights from 6-9pm in Lee's Summit, and the cost is $30 per class session.  I haven't determined how many class sessions there will be yet, but contact me if you'd be interested in joining!
  • I think the time as come to set up an official website for Ryan Delgado Art.  That may take a while.  It's kind of on the back burner for now, but I am considering it and hope to figure something out soon.  But in the meantime, stay tuned for more news and announcements about it on this blog and my Facebook page
