2020 Stems Plein Air Juried Exhibition

Hello friends!

This is my personal invitation for all of you to check out the 2020 Stems Plein Air Juried Exhibition pre-sale, which is now live online at The Rice Gallery of Fine Art website:

The show will not have a regular opening reception, unfortunately.  However, the online show is live, and pre-sale has begun.  The gallery will be open to view the show in person beginning August 10th.  All of the typical coronavirus protocols will be in place:  mask-wearing, distancing, limited number of people in the gallery at a time, etc.

The Rice Gallery of Fine Art is located at 4829 W. 119th St. in Overland Park, KS.  I hope you will have the opportunity to see the show in person, but most definitely take advantage of this online peek and sale of the show!

My painting Waterfowl Marsh is a 9x12" oil on panel, and is available for $750.  The marsh is a little somewhat hidden place located at a local wildlife area near my home.  Around this time of year, I knew there would be a mess of waterlilies, and I wanted to take advantage of that.  Here is how my painting turned out, and how it is currently displayed and for sale:

July 2020 Update

It dawned on me today that I have not updated since April.

Coronavirus pandemics make you forget sometimes.  But today was a day for catching up and setting things straight for me anyway.

I had to make a call to the McBride Gallery up in Annapolis, MD today because I've been a little concerned about my painting from the NOAPS Small Paintings exhibition from way back in April.  The show was originally supposed to end in May, but due to the coronavirus stuff happening, they very generously decided to extend the show into June.  See, a few good things have come of this.

Anyway, the last official day of the show was June 7th.  Today is July 13th, and I have not gotten my painting back yet, so I had to call them to see what was going on.  Turns out that although my painting has not sold, it's been getting some attention apparently.  It sounds like there are a few eyeballs on it, and the gallery has been wanting to hold on to it for a little bit more to see if it gets any bites.  So I told them of course!  Please keep the painting as long as you'd like!  So, if any of you out there might be interested, my painting Outcast is still available from McBride Gallery for now.  You may inquire at cynthia@mcbridegallery.com

I also decided today that it was time to head out to Blue Springs and finally pick up my paintings from the library that have been there since the Blue Springs show in March.  I was happy to see they took great care of them during their extended stay.

For my fellow Kansas City folks, the Contemporary Figurative show at Hilliard Gallery in the Crossroads is still up!  I actually have no idea when it's supposed to come down, but it's been up since May.  Anyway, there I have my painting Contrition on display and available for purchase as well.  The gallery is open, and you may also see the virtual show from the website https://hilliardgallery.com and you may inquire about my painting by calling the gallery at 816-561-2956.

I have also been accepted into my first Stems Plein Air Juried Exhibition, which opens on Friday, July 31st at The Rice Gallery of Fine Art in Overland Park, Kansas.  I will have a small painting at this show called Waterfowl Marsh, which is a fun little part of a local wildlife area near my home.  The painting itself measures 9x12 on panel.  More info will come on the tentative opening reception.  As of now, it's not certain whether there will be an official opening reception on the 31st or not.  It depends on the status of all things coronavirus.  If there is, it will include mask wearing/social distancing precautions.  I have not decided personally if I will attend or not.  Again, depends on how things are looking.

Finally, I wanted to let everyone know that my Ebay painting sales are still going!  That was the last thing I updated about on this blog back in April.  I currently have 15 auctions, and I already know I am selling one today.  Please check out all my available small affordable paintings!  I've sold quite a few since April, and will continue to keep them up.  To see my available auctions, please visit my Ebay page at https://www.ebay.com/usr/ryandart

Thanks for the support!  Please stay tuned for more updates on new work and shows!
